Zoeanne Schinas, O.D., received a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida International University in 1999, and a Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2004. She continued at Nova Southeastern University to complete a one-year residency program in Primary Care, with emphasis in Cornea and Contact Lens.
Following her residency, Dr. Schinas joined the faculty at Nova Southeastern University where she currently holds the rank of associate professor. Her teaching responsibilities at the NSU’s College of Optometry include lab coordinator and instructor for Contact Lens I and II labs and instructor for Contact Lens I and II didactic courses. As an attending optometric physician at NSU Health Eye Care, Dr. Schinas is a residency supervisor and precepts third and fourth year student interns in both the Cornea and Contact Lens and Primary Care services. She has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards, including the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Clinical Precepting and Professor of the Year award.
Dr. Schinas is currently active in clinical research. She has authored numerous abstracts in the area of ocular disease and its management at the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, and Southeast Conference of Optometry (SECO), in addition to having participated in optometric continuing education lectures.
