The fourth year program at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry is divided into a six month in-house rotation and a six month external rotation.
The in-house rotation is comprised of two three month rotations. One is the Primary Care rotation, which includes Low Vision and Geriatrics. The other rotation is divided into six weeks of Cornea and Contact Lenses and six weeks of Pediatrics and Vision Therapy. Students are assigned to one of our clinic locations in Fort Lauderdale, Davie or North Miami Beach.
The externships are also divided into two three month rotations. One must be an ocular disease site while the other one is an elective. Currently we have 48 sites for the students to choose from. We have 19 combined Optometry and Ophthalmology private practices, 16 Optometry private practices, 7 VA medical centers, one Air Force Base, and one international clinic in China. We also provide the opportunity for rotations with different locations of the Indian Health Services.
