Dr. Alexia Clark completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, where she earned an Associate of Art in Liberal Arts and Sciences as well as a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology on the Exercise and Pre-Professional track. She also received a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science degree in 2019 from Nova Southeastern University (NSU). She received her Doctor of Optometry from NSU College of Optometry in 2021. During her time as a student, Dr. Clark was the recipient of the Future Black Doctor Award, Class of 2021 Contact Lens Management Award, and the Chancellor’s scholarship.
Following graduation, Dr. Clark completed a Pediatrics, Vision Therapy and Visual Neuro-rehabilitation residency program at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. After being in practice, she returned to NSU College of Optometry as a full-time Assistant Professor and Director of Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. She is also the Chair of the Diversity committee. Dr. Clark also serves in an administrative role as the Interim Director of Internal Residency Programs. She enjoys mentoring and teaching residents’ higher level clinical skills and new technological practices.
Her responsibilities include laboratory teaching, as well as supervision of third- and fourth-year students in pediatrics and primary care. Being a native South Floridian, Dr. Clark is passionate about improving the quality of life in the diverse population base she serves and will work alongside students, faculty, and staff to complete this goal. Lastly, Dr. Clark will develop strategies to enhance recruitment, engagement, retention, and academic success of students and employees by continuing to create a welcoming inclusive environment for all students, residents, faculty, and staff.
