Dr. Hsuan Ariel Chao graduated with Magna cum Laude from Southern College of Optometry and pursued a residency in Primary Care with emphasis in Cornea and Contact Lenses at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. Upon residency completion, she decided to advance her career at Nova as an Assistant Professor, where she can dedicate her services to taking care of established patients, building relationships with new patients, and teaching third- and fourth-year optometry students clinically.
Dr. Chao is passionate about fitting specialty contact lenses to improve vision and quality of life for patients with irregular corneas. She is also a strong advocate and a researcher for early prevention and intervention of myopia in children. Dr. Chao has enjoyed presenting her clinical and research work at national meetings including American Academy of Optometry, Southeastern Congress of Optometry, and Global Specialty Lens Symposium.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chao is pursuing a Master of Public Health degree, working towards the expansion of optometric care through efforts in public health promotion. She is also an active provider bringing vision screening to Special Olympics in Orlando, Florida.
Outside of her eyecare interests, she spends time to learn to golf and train her rescue dog.
