Yin C. Tea, O.D., FAAO
Yin C. Tea, O.D., FAAO received her B.S. from UCLA in 1995 and her Doctorate of Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry in 1999. Following graduation, she completed a residency program at State University of New York College of Optometry in Binocular Vision and Vision Therapy. She is currently a full-time faculty member at Nova Southeastern University, where she is the Chief of the Pediatric and Binocular Vision Service and Pediatric Residency Program Coordinator.
Dr. Tea is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and member of College of Optometrists in Vision Development, American Optometric Association, and Florida Optometric Association. She has presented lectures, posters and/or continuing education for all of those associations. She provides additional local, national and international continuing education on a variety of pediatric and binocular vision topics and is involved in research on topics such as accommodation, strabismus, amblyopia and vision therapy.
She is NSU’s Principal Site Investigator for the multi-centered NEI-funded Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group and has researched numerous pediatric and binocular vision topics such as amblyopia and convergence insufficiency. She has published several refereed journal articles and posters on pediatric and binocular vision topics. She recently co-authored a textbook chapter titled Strabismus and Amblyopia Treatment and Diagnosis in the book Vision and the Patient with Special Needs: Diagnosis and Management.
Dr. Tea’s area of interest is binocular vision, specifically strabismus and amblyopia. She founded and continues to supervise the Strabismus and Amblyopia Specialty Service at the College of Optometry’s Eye Institute at Davie, in addition to her role as the Chief of Pediatrics and Binocular Vision for three separate clinical sites. She is the instructor of record for the Anomalies of Binocular Vision II – Strabismus and Amblyopia Diagnosis and Treatment Course and regularly lectures in the Anomalies of Binocular Vision I and Ophthalmic Theories and Methods 2 courses. She has received several awards from different classes, including Professor of Year in 2011.
