All applicants are required to take the Optometry Admission Test. This examination, which is currently offered either as the traditional paper administration or by a new computer version, evaluates the applicant's knowledge of biology, general and organic chemistry, reading comprehension, quantitative reasoning, and physics. The paper version is given twice a year, usually in February (spring) and October (fall). It is anticipated that the last paper administration will be given in October 2005. The computer version can be taken any time by going to a Thomson Prometric Center (formerly Sylvan Learning Center), although applicants must wait 90 days before taking the paper or computer version again. Applicants are encouraged to take the examination in the fall of the year preceding anticipated application. If the results of the fall examination can be improved, the applicant can repeat the examination after a 90 day wait period. For testing schedules and locations, please contact:
