Dr Melanie A. Crandall graduated from Southern College of Optometry in 1977. Following graduation she completed a one- year residency at the Kansas City Veterans Hospital. Dr. Crandall spent the next twenty years in a large MD/OD private practice in Kansas City. After earning an MBA from Nova Southeastern University she became a full time faculty member in 2002. Dr Crandall currently holds the rank of Associate Professor.

Dr Crandall spearheaded the Accreditation Self Study of 2012 and spent several years in preparation for the process. Dr Crandall created vibrant and well attended Continuing Education programs while Director of Continuing Education. She currently serves in an advisory capacity.

Dr Crandall has taught didactic courses for the first and second year Optometric program. She has been in the contact lens clinic and primary care clinic in Davie. From 2013-2017 she served as Module Chief in the Dave Primary Care Clinic. In 2017 Dr Crandall became Chief of Primary Care at the KID clinic in Wilton Manors.
