Dr. Melanie A. Crandall graduated from Southern College of Optometry in 1977. Following graduation she completed a residency at the Kansas City Veterans Hospital. Dr. Crandall spent the next twenty years in a large MD/OD private practice in Kansas City. After earning an MBA from Nova Southeastern University she became a full time faculty member in 2002. Dr. Crandall currently holds the rank of Associate Professor. Dr. Crandall is a thirty-eight-year member of the AOA and has served her profession in a number of positions. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry.

Past teaching assignments have included Contemporary Issues in Optometry to incoming OD1 students, Optometric Theory and Methods (OTM) IV course, OTM laboratories and Contact Lens Clinic. Dr. Crandall is Director of Continuing Education at NSU College of Optometry and Module Director of Primary Care Clinic in Davie.
